Employee Assistance Programs
Many new plans include Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).
EAPs help employees cope with stressful situations and/or medical problems by allowing employees, spouses and children to seek professional assistance for work, family, medical, emotional, financial, or drug and alcohol problems on a strictly confidential basis.
These professionals are usually available 24-7 and provide guidance, counseling and referrals to callers. There are indications that addressing issues early reduces employee absenteeism and/or reduced job performance due to personal and/or family situations.
